Mental Health Tips

We know it's not easy to prioritise your mental health - we know our bodies need rest when we have a cold, or that we should stay at home if we're coughing and sneezing - but we don't treat our mental health with the same care or consideration.

 

That's why on World Mental Health Day, we want to encourage you to tick off these daily tasks and see how they can improve your daily wellness. It's important to realise they can't replace incredible resources like qualified doctors and therapists but taking small steps every day can make a huge difference to the way we cope with what life throws at us.

Mental Health Tips Checklist

Gratitude list

Listing 10 things you’re grateful for every day can help you find reasons to feel positive – it can even be as small as having a good hair day! You can write this list down in a journal or simply think of these in your head.

 

H.A.L.T check

H.A.L.T stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired. Remembering H.A.L.T helps you to check in with your basic needs that might impact your mental health on any given day.

 

Get outside

Being with nature is known to help improve our physical and mental health- even just feeling the sun on your face can help a bad day feel a bit brighter.

 

Journalling

A lot of people find putting their feelings into words helps them understand the ‘why’. It helps you to untangle your feelings and thoughts that might be otherwise overwhelming.

 

Do something kind

Doing something kind for others boosts our mood! Why not do a favour for someone in your life or make a stranger’s day by complimenting them.

 

Make an exciting plan

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the moment, but we need to remember that most of our feelings don’t last forever. Plan something nice that you can look forward to, even if it’s just a nice dessert or watching your favourite movie at home.
